69 Camaro SS Drag Car Barn Find 940 miles

Hi guys. Have a nice gentleman wanting to trade this car to me on another I have. Do any of you know of the car? Could you please give an opinion of value?

Paperwork is a big plus.
Here's what is supposed to be a Z, non paperwork, but I suspect some shill bidding.
But similar condition.

If it's the same Camaro in Orange County, I looked at it about 5-6 years ago. It took less than 10 seconds to realize the claimed 300 miles was more than 100,000 miles. I showed the owner why it had over 100,000 miles and he agreed with everything I showed him. It was absolutely ridiculous, a high mileage Camaro from the desert.
Still tying to get as much as he could, I saw later he was sticking to his mileage claim, and now it's a barn find... it was outside in the yard of the original owner that lived in the high desert.

Is it just me, or does that vintage 1971 photo at the drag strip look like Great Lakes drag strip in Union Grove, WI?

Not sure why someone would order a 350hp 396 with T400 to go drag racing....not exactly the hot setup back in the day.

Rich, you are right to think shill bidding, I have serious doubts that Ebay ad is a real Z.

Bill thats is definetly Union Grove dragstrip. It is strange it was built in California ended up here when almost all our Camaros were from Norwood and is now back Ca. Makes you wonder if its the same car.

It also looks like the rear wheel wells on the race car were cut out and in the recent picture they are not. The race car doesnt look like it has a front bumper.

I seen this car at Pomona swap meet years ago. As I recall the rear inner fender wells were worked over. I used to race stock eliminator years ago and ran against Vic Hobbs many times, however he was never in that Camaro, always a station wagon. Vic ran stock when I knew him, so I was puzzled if he was the original owner why he would modify the car? :flag:
