'69 Jaguar E-Type Convertible Barn Find
I think the styling of these cars is atrocious, but it's pretty unheard of to find one of them locked away in a barn...at least in the States.

How can you not like the look of a XKE roadster ?
|
I know it's one of the 'iconic' designs, just have never been a fan of the proportions.

"I think the styling of these cars is atrocious"...
Yeah, to be honest that statement surprised me, I consider the E Type Jaguar one of the best looking designs ever, along with the 65-66 Mustang fastback and the C2 Corvette, among others. But to each his own. I appreciate all the eBay finds you post, someday I might buy one of them. |
Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, I like what I like...never could articulate what I don’t like about the e-type, although I agree that the early Fastbacks and C2 Corvettes were some of the best styled cars in history.
I just wrapped up an assignment in GM Design, and saw a lot of the ‘59 Stingray show car which has been fully restored and is often displayed in the building. Talk about a sexy car. |
I don't care for them either. They remind me of something that a clown would make out of balloons, or the Oscar Meyer wiener mobile.

The roadster I like. It is the coupe that is WAY out of proportion with that high roof.

2+2 Coupes are out of proportion, but two seaters? Nah.....
|
----Many bad decisions were made after 1967 by Jaguar design mainly to conform to new US rules. 61 thru 67 XKE's are by far better looking than any XKE after, although I would agree wholeheartedly that all the 2+2's are atrocious. My father bought a 65 XKE vert new and let me drive it some and keep it clean and tuned. My brother ended up with it and I believe it still is somewhere under 18,000 original miles.....Bill S
