'72 Trabant in NY State
 

The quintessential symbol of the German communist state...can't say I have ever seen one in the flesh but here it in in the US.

Saw a car like this when I was in Russia in 1992. One word, Horrible....

I think it was a Zaporozhets. Was even a 2 cycle I believe.

I'm thinking L88 427 with tunnel ram, 4 speed, and wheelie bars.

I was stationed in W. Berlin back in 84 to 86 and saw lots of these. They stink like crap, the exhaust from those 2 strokes was terrible. Stopped along an Autobahn rest stop in E. Germany once, and saw a dude had his carb out and rebuilding it there on the picnic table! Passengers did not fare well in vehicle crashes, the body was made from bako-lite or something. Nader would have crapped his pants if he had to deal with these.
