So if I am reading this correctly (big if), this is a December of 1969 tire, correct?

That is correct.

That is what I thought. Makes sense. That is the original spare on my 70 LT-1 Corvette.

Car was built in Feb. 1970.

Now I need to dig out the spare on my 69 Opel GT 1.1. I believe it is also the original.

It maynot be the original.

Looks like May of 1969 (J for 1969, Y for May).

I also have the build sheet for the car and it left the factory April 9, 1969 (09.04.1969... Europe lists day month year instead of month day year).

Curious if anyone know whether Goodyear tires manufactured over seas (Germany) would have used the same date coding. Seems strange they would use something different.

If it is the same, then this tire was purchased early in the car's life, but would not be the original spare.
