Rechroming Cragar SS

Anyone here ever had any Cragar SS wheels rechromed? If so, were you satisfied? Would you recommend that chrome plater? Costs involved? Were the wheels separated and rewelded?
Thanks in advance,
Dave

I've had the same question...2 chrome shops I've talked to won't rechrome wheels.

20 years ago i had 2 done, they told me you have to cut the center out and chrome them then weld back together, quoted me 500.00 for the pair, probably 750 now?

Rechrome Cragars

Atlas Plating in Houston TX. They did my 15x4’s five years ago. No cut apart.

I think this subject has been brought up before. I remember something about the chrome they use now is more of a yellow chrome compared to a white chrome used when they were new. Don't quote me on that, but something to do with the color of the plating.

^ Yes it is the EPA cracking down on the use of hexavalent chromium compounds which give a brighter 'white' chrome, alternative plating compounds don't provide the same appearance.
