This looks like it could be a Red Dick Harrell 427 Chevelle SS...
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F143337533900 Here’s some of the text from the auction “68 DICK HARRELL? CHEVELLE SS 427 HAS 427 EMBLEMS ON GRILLE MARKER LIGHTS DASH EMBLEM STEERING WHEEL AND DOOR PANELS BEAUTIFUL HARRELL HOOD NO ISSUES 138XXXXX522 VIN THE STAMP UNDER THE BLOWER MOTOR MATCHES THE VIN CLEAN MICHIGAN TITLE NO MOTOR OR TRANS WAS A TURBO 400 CAR 12 BOLT .410 POSI CAR KK CODE RED WITH RED INTERIOR BLACK VINYL TOP KANSAS CITY BUILT CAR 6000 RPM REDLINE TACH TILT STEERING” I have an old magazine with a red 68 Dick Harrell 427 Chevelle somewhere. Wonder if this is the car? I always liked the Harrell hoods on these cars. No mention of a Dick Harrell badge anywhere on the car. |

Does/didn't BKH own the red one? Is that bare gelcoat or has the hood ever been painted? Seller seems somewhat in the know yet no mention of an NCRS report? Maybe he's tried and the result doesn't mesh well w/ the Harrell story? No Vin in ad so someone can't check ahead for an NCRS report themselves? :hmmm: ~ Pete . |
400 turbo and 6K tach in '68? :hmmm:

Joe Swezey used to own the red car but I believe it is now in the Brother's collection if not mistaken. I do not recall the 68 Harrell cars using the 68 SS427 Impala dash plaque either.

Is that a real Harrell hood?

Steve Sandlin bought the car from Sweezy if I am not mistaken, if it wasn't the Brother's who bought it, I do not know who owned it after Sandlin.

That is correct.
