'67 Fairlane GT, #s 289/4-sp, Original Paint

The 289 comes on a stand - sounds like a 302 was swapped into it recently - odd choice for a car that looks so original. At least you get the original mill to reinstall....

Wow, that's a beauty. Always liked those 66 & 67 Fairlanes. My BIL has a 67 GTA convert.

That is a beautiful car, needs some cubic inches.

I've never seen a small block '66 or '67 Fairlane GT or GTA. I thought they all had 390s.

Bill Pritchard 11-10-2019 12:47 AM

The 66's were all 390s. In 67, the 2 bbl 289 became the base engine for the GT or GTA....anything more was "optional at extra cost". My BIL's 67 GTA convert has the 4 bbl 390 with automatic , bucket seats, and because no console was ordered the shifter is on the column.

If it was mine, I'd build the 289 to 271hp specs (or maybe a little more :naughty: ) and have a fun little screamer.
