'70 Chevelle SS396/4-sp with Build Sheet "Priced to Sell"

Shouldn't any advertised car be priced to sell? I love the dealer cliches in this ad....

Not a bad looking car with an original build sheet showing a pretty basic SS396 with a 4-speed and bench seat, sold out of Page Chevy in Athens, OH. Love the Sun gauges cut into the dash and the air shock schrader valves popping through the trunk...my '70 also had those mods before I restored it.

----Apparently didn't like the windshield antenna! Butchered dash, and other incorrect stuff. I can't remember Page Chevrolet and I went to college at Ohio U, but if that's correct then I took my 3 week old 69 435 Corvette (bought from Ed Stinn Chevy) to Page for a check on some unwanted engine noise. Turned out to have a badly scored cylinder wall. They told me they could rebuild it or give me a new shortblock. Both would be covered, and I chose the new shortblock as I felt it was a brand new car. So,,,3 weeks after purchasing a brand new Corvette the original numbers engine was gone......Bill S

Yup, no big deal back in the day.....warranty claims did away with a lot of original 'numbers matching' engines.

Hence the reason that the CE engines are sought after today.

----Got it my junior year and actually dropped out that fall and went to work in Ft. Liquerdale. It was way more fun down there than in Athens Ohio, and I needed to make the payments......Bill S
