'73 Camaro with Opera Windows (?) - Time Capsule
Wow - I can't say that I love these. I assume the opera windows were some sort of regional or dealer installed package - anyone know for sure?
Reminds me of the early Eldorado 'El Classico' trim kits.... Link to 1973 Camaro auction https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/0P0AA...DG/s-l1600.jpg https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/wWAAA...DA/s-l1600.jpg https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/D4AAA...DA/s-l1600.jpg |

I think a dealer in Southern California installed them. I own one of these disasters. The window cut in and the piss poor receding hairline vinyl top rusted the top off.
|
they were very popular around here back then.
|
Wow! These are a first for me. That rust is a bummer.
|
Those look so out-of-place it isn't funny
|
Not that I am a buyer; but just out of curiosity, I would like to see the trim tag. Probably not a vinyl top car from the factory.
Dealers around here did the same thing, even on 70's Buicks. Cut the hole and put a vinyl top on to cover up your mistakes. Not very many survived as well as the one for sale. |
I believe it was started by the van conversion craze....
|
Probably true, Rick. Those might be OK on a van, but certainly not on a 2nd gen Camaro.
And Lynn, I bet you are absolutely right about the vinyl top....a lot easier than body & paint work. |
