Restoring my trunk, jack and wheel.

I'm running out of things to do so I'm cleaning up the trunk of my 70 Nova SS. My jack is battleship grey (light grey). The bumper hook says 68 Chevy II. I read that the jack is the same color as the original spiral shocks. Those shocks to me look like cast iron grey (med grey).

My original spare Rally Wheel was painted black with dark grey back. I know the wheel should be Rally Grey on the front.

The floor of the trunk in grey with Aqua specks. The grey/aqua paint goes right up to the back seat shield and also covers the inner wheel tubs. The back seat shield is grey with no specks The trunk hinges are body color (grey).

The inside quarters are a black undercoating. What do you think?

Thanks

That's great! All I need to know. If you have original shocks, what color are they?

Thanks a bunch.

Shock paint color. I assume the black specks are undercoating overspray. Good luck !

The jack hook and base should be a Dove Grey, which you can find at a Hardware store. Your trunk color should be Aqua & Black not Grey. Rally wheels were Argent Silver with the back side Black.

Nothing like a original car to show how it should look...

Great info Mark and good to know. Always appreciate your expertise and knowledge and been a huge help.

From my experience, although jack bases and shocks are both technically Dove Gray, I've found survivor shocks to be slightly darker than dove gray. From the photos provided by Wayne and Don, that seems to be the case with their examples, too.

Maybe someone here on the board has a custom Dove Gray formula they'd share for shocks?

The difference in color to my eyes could have something to do with shocks typically being exposed to the elements? Has anyone else experienced Dove Gray looking different on jack bases and shocks with survivor cars?

The shocks are a darker shade of gray, not Dove Gray. They do sell the correct shade of gray in a can for the shocks. Dove Gray for the jack base and hook could be a little harder to find. Krylon sold Dove Gray a while back, may still find some at the Home Stores or Hardware stores.
