1970 CKO L78 engine for sale
 

This is a complete 1970 L78 engine intake to oil pan. Assembled sept of 1969. Selling it here for a friend. Please message me and I will get in touch with him. Engine is located in the state of Washington. Asking $5000

The ? letter in the CON VIN on the block looks like an 'F' to me :dunno:

F body vin would start with a 5, so probably not applicable.
It appears someone used a tool, such as a narrow chisel, to stamp a small x in the depression above where the letter would have been. Maybe when the stamper realized the stamp wasn't complete ?
Again, more speculation...:dunno: The production numbers of Nova L78's would suggest the highest probability of it being an X.

Cost and location are out of my range, but it would be fun to have for my '66 Chevelle, so the CRT engine in it now can go in my '70 SS.

I think you can rule out this being a Nova engine as the VIN stamp for the Nova's was on the front pad
