Any ideas on how to 'un-crimp' this light socket so the entire harness can be reused on another housing? It doesn't bend as easily as I had hoped.

You have to use a thin long flat tip screw driver and pry up on the edge. Once you get enough of the socket up you can use small pliers to bend up all the way so the socket fits through the housing.

Call me when you have the opportunity Rob, I just did it on my car.

as described it just takes a small screwdriver and small pliers to get the flange bent up. Once you're ready to re-install, make a holder by drilling a clearance hole for the socket in a piece of 2x4 wood. Then use the domed end of a ball peen hammer as the "die" to re-spread the lip once it is re-installed in the new or re-finished plate. Works like a charm and yields a nice, tight fit.

I also cut a slot in a piece of wood big enough for the wire harness to slide through so the socket sits on top of the wood. Then I used two pieces of metal strips and "C" clamps to hold the housing to the wood. I put a little black strip calk between the housing and socket for a water proof seal. The initial hit was with a ball peen hammer and then I went around the socket with a flat punch to get it tight.

Thanks guys. I was able to remove these with a screwdriver (and a lot of patience) as recommended.
