'70 #s 340/3-sp Original Paint Duster, 25,000 mile car

This is one of the nicer Dusters I've seen, and I'm guessing the 340 was not often paired with the 3-speed manual trans.

1 of 3401 according to the auction description. That seems awfully high to me....how many 340 Dusters were built in 1970?

24,800 miles in the first 7 months of ownership by the original owner then 200 miles in the next 50+ years? Wow.

Also, I never knew those speedometers were configured like that; sort of like a tachometer.

Seems a little odd that they managed to stop driving it at exactly 25,000 miles...:hmmm:

Original delivery date was 5/21/70, and 2nd owner purchased it on 12/13/71, so that makes about 19 months for the OO to accumulate those 24,800 miles.

Unhooking the speedo cable lets you stop accumulating mileage at whatever point you want :naughty:

Auction has ended early.

^ yep - I confused the years... 1971 purchase date was 5 (rest of 1970) PLUS 12 months (all of 1971 nearly) - still... and yeah, stopped at 25,000... anyway, still a lot of miles that first owner put on very quickly IMHO...

That is the weirdest speedo I've ever seen!

The mid-60's Mercedes with the vertical speedos were different, not weird!
