C2 corvette vinal hardtop storage

Ok need your opinions on this. Have a beautiful 67 corvette vinal hard top and thinking on storing on the storage cart shown. Do you think the padded form will leave marks on the vinal where the top is resting? Since the picture I added each side a padded oven mitt just for more padding.

----I have exactly the same hardtop storage rack. I have my top turned around with the paint (vinyl in your situation) pointing outward. I then got a length of wood the appropriate length (longer than the hardtop is wide, and taped it to the very top so that the rack wouldn't hit the headliner. Works slick as the wood just rests on the weatherstrip!.....Bill S

Thanks Bill. Would it be to much for you to attach a picture of yours with the wood attached?

May I offer a word of caution...if those tops aren't stored properly, they spread. I bought a roadster that came with a hardtop that was sitting in a loft of the pervious owner's garage. We tried to install the top when I was picking up the car and it wouldn't fit. Ultimately, we did get it on and latched, but over time the corners had spread at least an inch.

I would think that in order to stop the "spread" of the mounting points, you could get a long section of threaded rod and a couple of nuts and washers, and route the rod through the two lower mounting tabs, with the nuts/washers on the outside. (Or you could use another section of wooden broom handle just like you have in the above photos, cut to length with some screws and large washers screwed in each end.

This way it would act as a stop to prevent the spread.
