Simeone Foundation Auto Museum

Took a ride today to the Simeone Foundation Auto Museum in Philadelphia.
I try to get down there at least once a year and take someone who has never been there before. I have a machinist friend,Jeff, who asked if it was worthwhile to take a day and go down there. He wasn’t disappointed. It happened to be a demonstration day where they take a couple of cars from inside out behind the museum and enthusiastically drive them. The one car was a tube chassis drum brake 1951 Jaguar C-type, The other a 1956 D-type Jaguar with disc brakes and monocoque chassis. If you’re in the Philadelphia area and a fan of racing sports cars visiting this museum is a must. While some of these cars here are restored Dr. Simeone is a big proponent of preservation, he even wrote a book on the importance of preserving cars rather than complete restorations. I took quite a few photos, I’ll post some tonight and more tomorrow. |

I need to get there…
Thanks Rob. |
Thanks for posting those. Reminds me of the Revs Institute in Naples, FL. Well worth visiting if you're ever in the area as it has similar write ups about the significance of each car on display.

Thanks for that, I must visit there.

What is the story on the 1966 Corvette? It looks like the #4 1965 green/green Corvette that was originally a white fuelie and converted to a 396 with sidepipes. That car was at the Texas Regional last October if the same one.
