We just heard that John has passed. very sad. Rest in Peace John. You probably saw John announcing for Mecum or playing in his band at MCACN.

Damn, sorry to hear that. Very nice guy and well liked by many. He always treated me with respect whenever we spoke. We have lost too many of the good ones.

I always enjoyed his commentary when watching Mecum. Sad day for our hobby indeed.

What a sad thing. He was a great man. He spent a lot of time with me when I brought the 507. He approached me while I was talking with someone and Kelly said he “humbly waited his turn” and didn’t barge in.
His first words with me were, “Wow. You actually built it like you said you were going to!” I told him I was building this when they first sent the red one through auction a few years ago.

We discussed my build, and he said , “You know I sell cars, so is it for sale?” And I quickly replied, “Since you sell cars, what should it sell for?” He laughed and said when done, easily $500k if not more considering you’ll never find another. Flattering. I told him IF I were to ever sell, it would probably only go to a museum or something like that and the offer would have to be significantly life enhancing. He was intrigued by the entire build and loved the research I had done. A pilot as well, we had some great conversation. Man, that’s so sad and that was amazingly quick after disagnosed. I hope he didn’t suffer. RIP!

Cheers
Dave
