1967 Motion drag car and its ripoff
This is a picture of the real Motion 1967 Camaro drag car. Joel held some records with this car at NY area drag strips. Sombody painted up a 68 Camaro to look like this car and it ended up for sale as a Motion car. The ad reads; "1968 Baldwin Motion Camaro 427 M22 4 Speed All of the Baldwin Goodies This car needs nothing! Looking for Offers." I don't even see any Motion parts on it.

Joe,
Nice picture of Joel's 67 Camaro. By the way which magazine did you find this in . Thanks Dan |
Re: 1967 Motion drag car and its ripoff
The pic is from Cars Mag Dec 67. Hard to find color pics but this is on the cover. I have been looking for a color pic of the 68 Motion Camaro drag car. In the B$W photos it looks black or another dark color.

Re: 1967 Motion drag car and its ripoff
Here is an article on a Butternut Yellow '67 Camaro that was in a magazine in '75 or so. In the article it said this car was the original Motion 427 Race car and the current owner, Robert E. Brown bought it from Motion in '72. Current engine in the article is a 454. Many Motion parts on it, Lakewood bars, NMW tow bar brackets & roll bar, Mr. Gasket AC, Motion Phase III hood, Sun gauges etc.
JoeC, was the picture you posted earlier of a RS/SS? The rear valance of your car pic does not have the backup lights, but I thought the original Motion race car had a RS/SS front end? The original butternut yellow Motion race car was in many ads in it day. Re: 1967 Motion drag car and its ripoff
Dave,
I can't find a picture of the front of it but there are no SS or RS markings on the race car. What magazine (Mt and year) was that article in. I would like to get a copy to read. |
Re: 1967 Motion drag car and its ripoff
This article came from "Super Street Cars" July '79. It was a real low budget(cheap pulp paper& writing) publication out of New York that always reran old articles. I've seen this article as early as '76 in one of their many other automotive publications.
