A certain "Olds" owner alerted me of the car this morning. Anyone know of a legit '67 L-72 passenger car? Chevrolet by the Numbers says 17 engines coded/buiilt, but no record of installation. How does everyone else read that line?

The car is option L36 and would be a two bolt main 3904351 block. Interesting car, I doubt that they would put this transmission with an L72 engine.

Ad states that is original 385 hp car. It may be a COPO police car because of the 140 speedo. The part about not having been painted at the factory is difficult for me to believe. It seems like it was not a big problem to get special paint from the factory so why would they purchase a car in primer. Then there would be no paint under the trim and other places where paint should be before assembly. Some people say there may have been a few L72 passenger cars built in 1967 but it was not listed as an option. Chevy had some type of anti hp campaign in 67 where it was difficult to get a 375 HP Chevelle or Camaro until later in the year. It looks like a cool project car.

I was just thinking........there have been rumors around for years about tri-power police cars and the rumor said they were from NV. I wonder if this can be one.

Interesting..................seems I remember this car being offered once before but could not find it.

To my knowledge, there has never been a confirmed '67 L-72 full sized Chevrolet though this is not being sold as one. As stated, L-72s were built but never installed in the full size cars by the factory. (confirmed)

I think the COPO status could be correct (police option) however, that may be misleading in this add as this car was readily available with a 385hp 427 and the COPO status being due only to the police order. The 140 speedo would also be a police option.

It would make for a neat street car restoration. That is a lot of money for a Biscayne needing a full resto and the engine and trans are missing but if he can get it, more power to him. I am in no way badmouthing the owner, just giving my opinion on value as I have owned a lot of '67 427 Impalas.

That's kind of what someone I know has in mind, but they are wanting an L-72 Biscayne, and preferrably a '68. That's where my question about actual installation in cars came from, as they engines were built/stamped, but there was no record of installation. Does that mean that they just didn't run across any paperwork saying yes/no, or is that a positive "no"?

Rob, there is no positive "NO" ...only 17 positive "I don't no"s.
No one has shown me conclusively that these car don't exist.
Only that no has yet to find one.
