Does any one know these Super Cars
The February 1988 issue of 'Muscle car Classics' has a few interesting photos. I don't recall having the cars discussed on the site and was currious if anyone had any info. about them?
It has a feature article on Carl Dwiggin's Yenko Deuce. On the top left of page 29 there is a 1969 Yenko Nova. The caption Reads;"Ron Kacir restored this Yenko Nova purchased new by his brother. Ron rebuilt the car after it was damaged in a wreck and has been drag racing it since. Car ran 13.80s at 101mph. Power comes from a 350-cubic inch backed by a 4speed." Then on page 28 at the bottom right there is a picture of a, "Metallic blue 1969 Yenko Camaro still has the original YSC headrest bucket seats. Mileage on this one is 44,858." It is X11 trimmed, D80 equipped, endura bumper, white vinyl top and Yenko stripes and no 427 emblems on the cowl hood. Then on page 82 there is a;" Restored 1970 427 Nova has new metalic blue lacquer paint job with clear coats and black pin striping. The 427-335hp was upped to 512 hp when engine was rebuilt. It is equipped with an M-22 rock rusher four speed and 12 bolt 4.11 gear posi rearend and heavy duty suspension. Car has never been wrecked and all chrome is original. Black stock bucket seats grace the interior. It is a one-owner car priced at $8,900.00". This car was for sale at Carlisle. Other than the Red Deuce are these other cars fact or fiction? There is also an extensive article detailing how to clone/fake Muscle cars to include COPO Camaros. I believe the Chevelle community was still comming to grips with COPO Chevelles at this time, to reference how far the body of knowledge has evolved since then. |
Re: Does any one know these Super Cars
Correct me if I'm wrong Marlin; but isn't this Red ex-Dwiggins Duece the one I own now?
|
Re: Does any one know these Super Cars
Carl was quoted as stating that it was his favorite COPO car of the three he owned at the time, and the others were L72 Camaros.
Marlin, It is in writing. |
Re: Does any one know these Super Cars
The Deuce is in fact Kevin's. The rest of the cars are very suspect...BKH

Re: Does any one know these Super Cars
I don't know who Ron Kacir is, but the Dwiggins deuce is now owned by SuperCars. I don't know of any racing in it's past, but apparently the car was 'found' in the Las Vegas area back in the '80's. Is it possible that Kacir is from the IL area?

Re: Does any one know these Super Cars
This ex-Dwiggin's car has gotten better, and more correct with each successive owner - a good thing. Carl was not known for his 'correct' resto's, and this Deuce was no exception. Nothing majorly wrong with it when Carl had it done, just little things that were unnecessary; '69 Grille, a/c core support, carpet, removed the p/s, mirror etc... Now however, the car is looking good.
Who did the writing Steve, Carl or an editor? |
Re: Does any one know these Super Cars
Marlin,
There is no question regarding the authenticity of Carl's former Deuce and I would say that back then his cars were mostly restored to the standards of the day. I would think that the we have all learned quite a bit more than we knew back in late 1987. Ron Kacir's car was to have been a 1969 Yenko Nova. The magazine issue is filled with Novas. His brother was to have been the original owner. Could be a tracable Yenko Nova? Looks like it was Silver/Light color? |

I too have been researching this car but never got anywhere. I believe it to be just a painted up car that had emblems on it but who knows. I have never come across any other photos or mention of it in any drag publications. Someone can possibly run a license number from that era and see what comes up. |
Re: Does any one know these Super Cars
Rick,
Would be a great find don't you think? |
