yenko cylinder head questions.
I'm sure somebody can help me on this one.. I went to the turkey rod run in daytona speedway on friday and picked
up a MINT virgin set of 3919840 heads. They appear to have never been apart. original valves,no knurled guides ect... the guy i bought these from said they have been off a car for over 20 years and by the amount of dust on them i believe him! the dates on them are A 28 9 and C 12 9 . thats 6 weeks apart. Can a matching set of heads be this far apart? i thought that head dates were USUALLY closer than that. what do you think? thanks !! steve |
Re: yenko cylinder head questions.
I can't comment on the date thing, and you probably already know this, but the 840s weren't "Yenko specific", as they came on the L-78s, L-71s, and the "other" L-72s (big cars) also. I also recently learned of a '70 L-78 that came with 840s originally, with the big valves.

Re: yenko cylinder head questions.
Steve
I think that is very possible. There is a man here who is the original owner of a 1969 Chevelle L-78.The car has 840 heads dated 4 months apart.I do not live with the car,but they look authentic to me.Never off the car. Rob Are you talking about a 1970 Chevelle,Nova,or Camaro? |
Re: yenko cylinder head questions.
Steve,
I have found the sinnilar situation noted by NNr70 to not be that unusual based on I969 cannaros as well. I have seen two to three nnonths appart for original drivetrain/heads on several occasions. |
Re: yenko cylinder head questions.
I believe it was a Chevelle...let me check real quick.
