Re: Yenkos Featured on Hot Rod

Don't know if they where installed in the cars from Yenko but I have seen a Yenko aluminum block with Yenko embosed in the casting.

Re: Yenkos Featured on Hot Rod

I always thought that it was the other way around, GM did the alum. BB's for the Chaparell program then incoporated them into RPO ZL1. I thought Yenko got involved after '69 and had them produced for his racing parts catalog, and mainly for his Marine unit.

Mr. Holub has an aluminum Yenko block, as shown in the Hot Rod article - check the pics!

I think i read that this block was used for racing only..not sure where I read this though!

Re: Yenkos Featured on Hot Rod

They were not installed in the Yenko cars, they were sold to racers over-the-counter. Yenko sold a lot of them to his Marine customers, some dirt track racers also bought them. I've seen several for sale at Carlisle swap meets, sometimes complete engines - carb to pan, fly to fan!

Re: Yenkos Featured on Hot Rod

That article has it backward. Chevy was selling ZL1 blocks and Can Am blocks then Yenko took over and was selling them.
Yenko also tried to lower his cost and had some cast by a company outside of USA but it didn't work out too well.
