69 Camaro VN & Trim Tag info????????

Just bought this camaro last friday. VN 124379L517209.
Appears to be an original 4sp car, clutch pedal under carpet and BB heater core. Rallye Green? w/factory cowl hood.
Trim Tag: ST69,124379 VN239830, TR 712,79 79 PNT. No X code! and I don't understand the "VN" vs "LOS" or "NOR"???? Have never seen one without an X code. Could this be an early "Van Nuys" car?? HELLLLLP. Please & Thank you.

Van Nuys/Los Angeles....don't think they used X codes out there...

VN=Van Nuys also known as LOS for the Los ASngels Planty. they chnaged the Cowl tag to VN druing the 69 production run. The VIN plate kept the L for Los Angeles. These cars did not get an "X" code on any of their cowl tags.

NOR= Norwood Ohio assembly plant and starting in Dec of 68 I beleive they started using the "X" codes.

This being said , its one of the major reasons to get all Doc's when you are buying what is said to be a Big Block SS Camaro from the Van Nuys plant.

Kurt S and the folks at the Camaro Reseearch Group Have some outstanind facts withing their web site.

What's the #'s from the top line of the cowl tag?

Should have a 12 bolt if it's a BB. May have a broadcast sheet above the gas tank......

I think VN was the Fisher body plant and Los Angeles was the Chevrolet assembly plant...

It was LOS on the cowl tags til December 68. Then it switched to VN. No idea why. Same plant.

Sorry, my bad. I got confused....
The *bottom* line is what wasn't posted yet.

The axle code should help tell if it's the original axle or not. http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml#RearAxleNumbers

1 or 2 fuel lines?
Should have discs.

Glad you like our CRG site!
