'69 Camaro "Time Capsule" Found!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 Attachment(s)
Took some pics of this '69 SS today that has just seen the light of day since 1980. Typical original Day 2 car from the era. This is an original D2 car, not a recently made up one. Original owner, 32,000 mile car. His Mom went into a nursing home and they sold the house so the car lost it's storage spot. I've gone by the moms house just about every day for the last 15 years and never knew what was behind the garage door. The car is not for sale. Hopefully it is going to find storage soon instead of sitting out in front of the old gas station down the road. The owner had the gas station put in a new rad and plug wires etc. Tires are L-70's on the rear and F-70's on the front-MCCreary Road Star bias ply's and Cragars. This is not the brown Z I talked about in some of my earlier post. I never knew this car existed until today. Will post interior and engine shots next.

Here are the engine and interior pics. Typical Midwest mods: Sun gauges, Sun Super Tach, Cal Custom valve covers, Edelbrock Torker intake, Orange Flex-a-lite fiberglass fan, white painted headers, etc. What is strange is the smog is still on the car. Original interior even carpeting. Backseat was full of old speed equipment still in the boxes that was never installed, including some old newspapers from the '70's. I live in a semi rural area and never knew this car existed. They are still out there.

Re: '69 Camaro "Time Capsule" Found!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cal Custom Valve Covers! Nice to see that there are still many out there that lurk behind doors and fences, mankind locates artifacts from 10,000 years ago on a daily basis, so 30-35 year old items are many in comparison and will be routinely found. The term my wife uses whan talking to other people about me is vehicular archeologist. I think that is one of the most exciting things about our hobby...the HUNT! Could be a neat idea to do a section of this website for Lost and Found so we could all post our recent discoveries like this one, even if they arent for sale. It provides motivation for all to keep on with the eternal search. Much better to locate the missing then wait for the owner to say screw it and send them to the crusher. I have everyone I know from all parts of the country always on the hunt for me, it really helped out when I offered a flat finders fee if I buy the car, I told everyone no matter how the car looks to them to let me know about it anyway. I have had some great luck in the last year, soon to announce a real bell ringer. Nice find Whitetop, thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks, Motown |

Probably one reason why I'm lost in the '70's. Isn't that a '98-99 Grand Prix next to it-so no conspiracy theries are started? Not sure of the Hp rating but car has the original 4 speed and 12 bolt. Car was sold new at McCombs Chevrolet in Cadiz,Ohio and still retains the selling dealers license plate frame on the rear. |
Re: '69 Camaro "Time Capsule" Found!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi guys, new guy on the block. Enjoying your posts on the 69 Camaro. Nice find! A so called friend of mine told me about a 63' Corvette coupe covered up under a tarp in some guys back yard right in my little town. He says that he promised the guy that he wouldn't tell anyone the location of the car, claims the guy has mental trouble. I think that when he told me about the car he didn't know that I was a certified Vette nut. Any tips on how to find this splitwindow?
You guys may already know about it, but if not, check out www.carsinbarns.com Rick |

I miss those little chrome mud flaps (stone savers!) the ones without the mudflap extensions. Definetly period correct.
