oswego dragway
Anyone here race at Oswego back in the early 70's?

Re: oswego dragway
I believe Ken BarnHardt's ZL-1 did,& that Mist Green LS6 I owned did too.
Steven J has three great pix of that car getting ready to run in 1976? We both took a ride over there in February. What a depressing place today.Trees everywhere,& all we found left was the building that was once the outhouse. Straight track asphalt & some yellow lines are still noticeable. A Sad Day that was.... |
Re: oswego dragway
Rick, I was wondering because the previous owner of my green ls6 raced there a lot back in the early 70's.I was hoping someone might have some pictures or even personal recollection of him or the car?? I did find some pictures of him racing his '67 l78 there around that same time, was neat to see what the track looked like then as compared to now.I'll keep those pictures with me and show you next time we meet.

Re: oswego dragway
I raced there occasionally, or was a spectator from about 1971 to 1976. I don't recall your car, though, and don't have any photos of a forest green 70 Chevelle.

Re: oswego dragway
Contact Dan Hornback in Aurora, he took the picture of the Citrus Green Deuce at Oswego back in '71 or so.

Re: oswego dragway
I was there many, many times, both spectating and racing, but I never took a camera. I have no specific recollection of a Forest green LS6 Chevelle there. Sorry
What was the name of the previous owner who raced there, and where did they live at the time? |
Re: oswego dragway
Maybe you can find some of the people who ran the Oswego track and see if they have photos.
There was a small track near here called Dover that closed in 1976 but the guys who ran it now do a Dover Drag strip reunion car show. The guys who ran there bring scrap books to the reunion with lots of great old pics. |
Re: oswego dragway
My car was raced there as well. I am still waiting for pictures and the trophy the 2nd owner of my car won.

Re: oswego dragway
Also, Rick (Mr70) posted this link a while back. Glen Brown I believe is the name. He photo at Oswego and Rockford in the early 70's. Did come across a car that looks suspiciously like mine. Take a look you never know. http://www.60sdragracingphotos.com/

Re: oswego dragway
The name of the previous owner was Jim Tindall, he was from a small town south of Oswego named Henry. He raced both his ls6 and '67 marina blue l78 chevelle there many times. There is still a winner sticker in the drivers side quarter window....kinda neat!!!
