February 2004 issue of Chevy Rumble

Nice article starting on page 85 written by Doug Marion about Helen Gibb and her 2002 Phase I ZL1 SuperCar. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Also, nice article starting on page 92 about the Maple City Cruisers Car Club Cruise-In at Monmouth the night before the Fred Gibb show with pic's of Steve Albert and Kenny Barnhardt and his '02 ZL1 Phase III. On page 94 Doug also included a couple of pic's of D.C.'s Chevelle (ORIGLS6). https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Guess I didn't pay Doug enough. All I got is a pic of my hood in this issue. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

They are nice articles. I like Chevy Rumble. The only thing that bugs me is the mistakes that I usually run across. In the Feb. '04 issue look at page 17, photo #11. Now read the description for it. That's not a '68 in that picture. How did they miss that? Another recent issue (I think Nov. '03) had engine options listed and for the 1966 L72 option they had the total production numbers reversed for the Corvette and passenger car. I know that mistakes slip through now and then, but when I see them it bugs me a little.

I agree that you see mistakes in Chevy Rumble from time to time but it happens with all publications. Super Chevy probably takes the overall prize for inaccuracies with their captioning of photos. Most of the writers submit their articles and photos and never have a chance to see what's happening with them 'til the final product is in the hands of the public. I've chatted with Doug Marion a couple of times and know for a fact that is the case with Chevy Rumble. Doug submits a number of articles for every issue but doesn't know which ones are used until he picks up a copy from the local news stand. For the most part, it's out of his control once it leaves his computer. The layout people are the responsible parties and I'm guessing some of them aren't as 'hard core car nuts' as we. I'll bet Charley, Kevin H., Kevin S., Capt. Carl, etc. could tell us volumes of litttle bits of misinformation included in various articles about their favorite toys. Sometimes it might be tweaked a little to make for more interesting reading but for the most part is just honest mistakes.

Pretty cool article about Helen's car and Doug's driving impressions. I can see her sitting beside him, as calm as can be saying "Check the brakes, I've never tried them before!" I can also see that big smile she probably had when he set the car on it's nose. The lady does like her car! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Dennis,
It was also nice that you got some ink albeit small. I was glad I was able to point you out to my wife and show her who you were. However, she wasn't impressed with the back of your head. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

Rick,

Tell her everything ages! Some just get better as they go along; good whiskey, fine brandies, classic musclecars. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

But on the flip side, there's Howie! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif
