I have a LOS 69 X77D80 with a block casting date of 9/23/68.The original holley is long gone, and there's a SYC member selling an 872..is that too early?.Trying to establish the correct date coding range..if the carbs were assembled well ahead of the motor(the car had a build date of 10/19,the first production day of the "b" RPO change. TIA |

Re: #4053
Date code is 875 [5th week] not 872 [second week] as you have in your post...

Re: #4053
I bought one last year for my Z. I tried to get one that was in the range of 2 months before my engine build. It seemed reasonable to me. Keep in mind, if your intent with your restoration is for driving vs diamond judging any date will do. Is your car going to have the air cleaner removed during judging? Probably not. Good luck.

I have a LOS 69 X77D80 [/ QUOTE ] Now there's a contradiction. What's the build date from the tag? |

Re: #4053
Late Brake... What Kurt was puzzled about was the fact that threre were no X77D80 cars built in Los Angeles. It appears that it is not on your trim tag so why are you calling it a X77D80 ?

Hey guys i'm just an old fan on the new end of the RP0 game!.The car is a Sally Rand-only options were posi, endura bumper and f & r spoilers(still has the o.g.68 mini rear)no console or tach.I just assumed base trim Z's were referred to as x77 for oral brevity, regardless of plant origin.
Now if you want to talk vintage Honda 50's,class is in session! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif |

Most were ordered this way, though they aren't now. Carb date - don't have a lot of early LA Z carb data. May be a little early but it's a possible date. Depends on the LA supply chain. I'd have guessed 89x, but the limited data shows some older parts early in the year. |
