-70 Hemi Challenger conv.

In 1990 there was an article in the swedish Wheels magazine about a Hemi convertible. This Plum Crazy/white top car (JS27R0B171715) was bought by "Stateside" on Jerome Avenue in New York in -75.This company exported around 6000 cars to Sweden in the -72 to -78 periode. 2800 of these were convertibles. In -75 the Hemi conv. cost them around $2000. During the thirteen years this car spent in Sweden, it had something like ten different owners. One of these gave it to his wife as a daily driver. So this four-speed Hemi conv. was used by a woman even during wintertime.

Re: -70 Hemi Challenger conv./70 RAIV judge convt

Neat story, I know there was alot of rare cars sent to Sweden, not sure why. My 1970 RAIV/4spd Judge convert. was sent there in 1973 or 74. It was there till 1989, & still has the N.Y. exporters sticker on rear bemper. Would like to get more info on this subject if you have any. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

National Geographic (did I spell it right ?) once made a big article about Sweden. In this article they stated that Sweden was moore americanized then America itself. We love american cars. We love McDonalds ! If we would ever leave Sweden, we would go west to the United States. No matter what Olof Palme ever said.

https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gifOur biggest car event is Power big meet, in Västerås, in early July. There you´ll find 10.000 cars and something like 70.000 people attending this meeting. If you´re lucky you might get to see a Boss 429, a Superbird or even a COPO. Last year there were four or five cars coming in from Russia, and lots from all over Europe.

Concerning your car, I´ll mail you an answer tomorrow.

Eric, I tried to mail you, but it didn´t work. I´ll try again later. I´ve talked to the last swedish owner of your judge ragtop ! He still has the -70 GTO 4-speed ragtop that he bought before your car. Sometime in the early eighties he hurt a bearing in the original (GTO)400 cu.i.engine while driving at 120 mph. He took the engine out of the car and bought a very nice 455 SUPER DUTY out of a wrecked Trans Am. The low milage 455 SD is still in the car. He hardly ever drives it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

My friend Hans visited one of the former Swedish owners of Plum Crazy -70 Hemi convertible. He now owns one of the 33 factory Hemi/auto -71 Chargers. There is also a factory -71 Hemi Superbee here in Sweden.
