67 Impala SS427 Convertible at Cruise-in Today
 

I went to a small local cruise-in in Greenville SC today. There were only 15 to 20 cars there. One guy had 2 very nice cars there, a 55 Chevy with a 427 and a 67 Impala SS427 convertible. He said that it is a original 47,000 mile numbers matching car. I didn't check any of the numbers but even if it is not a real SS427, it is a nice looking car.

Frank, It's all a matter of terminology. To some, "original" means original components, restored or not. To others, it means original driveline. To still others, it means unrestored original components.

I didn't intend to get a debate started here. I was just posting pictures of a nice looking and fairly rare car. I never said the car was a survivor. The story behind this Impala is that the current owners brother bought the car new. He drove it for a few years and lost interest in it. He parked it in an old barn on his Dad's property and basically forgot about it. He died a several years ago. The dad sold the property a few years ago and called his other son and told him that if he wanted the car he needed to come get it. He had forgotten about the car. He got the car and fixed it up. He added some chrome pieces under the hood, which I wouldn't have done. According to him the car sat in the barn for over 20 years. I don't care if the story is true or not. I would like to own the car.

The '67 does not appear to be an original 427 car. The emblems used on the '67 SS 427 Impalas were unique to that car---this car has the more common "Turbo Jet" style emblems such as a 396 Impala would have. It does appear to have a hood bulge but it's not clear from your photos that it's a correct SS 427 hood. Nice looking car but it might not be an original SS 427.
