Brown '69 Yenko nova
Ran into a very interesting fellow at York, who was helping show a trio of very rare rarecars, and here is one of the many cool things he told me.
"I used to hang out, and even buy a lot of parts, at Yenko Chevrolet. In 1969, I saw a neat looking '69 Yenko Nova, L-78 in kind of an odd Brown color, on the lot and asked if I could test drive it. The saleman said yes, but not to get on it. I test drove the car, fell in love with it, but when the saleman figured the payments, there was just no way I could swing it. For weeks following I would stop by and look at it. Through the years, when I tell folks about his car, they all say I am nuts, as Yenko did not do '69 Novas in Brown." Well, anyone who has seen Henderson's Nova and the paperwork on it, know Yenko did sell at least one Brownish '69 L-78 Nova. |
Re: Brown '69 Yenko nova
Cool...why would people say that Yenko didn't do L 78's in Brown ? Was it Burnished in 69 ? I still like that color...I don't think I ever saw a pic of this car Brian...

What Can Brown Do For You? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif

Re: Brown '69 Yenko nova
It's a '- -' paint code, which won't be Burnished Brown. This car was a Cadillac color I think, called Nutmeg Bronze Firemist Metallic or something long like that! BK can elaborate on the color name https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

Re: Brown '69 Yenko nova
Man that guy was convincing, wasn't he?? No hesitation or prompting in the story. Great descriptions of lugging L-88s and other parts in and out of the performance parts shop, too... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Re: Brown '69 Yenko nova
Very interesting to say the least. And what was kind of funny, he was as excited to hear from us about the "Brown" Nova as we were to hear what he had to say. A real "treasure" as he had stories about numerous other Yenko built/sold cars, including Vettes.
