1969 Nova 'Hugger Orange' ??

I recently aquired a very interesting 1969 nova ss.
The car shows very little usage.
The cowl tag has a paint code of - -
The color is almost a 'Hugger Orage', which is very nice and appears to be a factory paint.
It is a 1969 V8 Big Block car, but the motor and trans are not original. My question to this group is what does it mean that a car was ordered with a paint code - -, and where any special nova's painted orange for specific supercars?? This is one of the cleanest/strangest Nova's I have ever seen. Any guidance or assistance with tracking down information would be great on any other.. '69 Hugger Orange Novas' Thanks.

- - culd be paint delete/spiecial paint or stripe delete can you post a pic of the cowl tag on the firewall and post the VIN as well. Being a BB car it could very well be something spiecal within the COPO ranks

The -- could be almost any GM color. It is probably monaco orange. Hugger was not available until spring of 70 on novas. There were many muscle cars painted high way department orange from truck fleet as well. The only restricted colors were Cadillac. Earl

BKH's Y-Nova was a special paint car, and got a Cadillac paint color: Firemist Nutmeg Metallic

Of course, Yenko *might* have had enough pull to get something like that done... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

nova69;

I am definitely interested in pictures and more information. I will even offer to host as many pictures as you would like to send on chevynova.org. I would also like to know if you would be willing to send pictures of different parts of the car to help in the research project.

Thanks,
Greg Roberts

I don't remember ever seeing a 69 nova in orange. I believe that with the -- pnt code you have a special order Monaco orange nova though. The names are kinda confusing. Hugger was identified as a camaro color only. Monaco was Corvette, but when special ordered on chevelles was also called Monaco. The mixing formulas are pretty much the same on both. You may have one of a very few special ordered that way. Or like Earl said, maybe it's highway dept orange. A good auto paint jobber could run a scan on it, them we'd know. S.
