We need a new forum section for Ebay discussions

What does everyone think? I think this main forum should be only for the discussion of Chevy musclecars and supercars or things pertaining to them. I think there should be a new section for general discussion about Ebay and the various scams.

I do enjoy reading about what is going on on Ebay and things to watch for when buying and selling but I think this section should be all about the cars, car stories, car questions, cars found in barns, etc.....

I agree with Bill and it ain't because I'm a fellow Irishman.
Maybe a forum simply titled: "Buyer Beware" or "eBay Scams and other Fraud".

I'll go out on a limb here and say I DON'T think we need a special "ebay scam" section. 99.9 percent of these scams are so blatant its not even a question of if the auction is real or fake, and the auctions are usually pulled within 24 hours anyhow. If someone truly isn't sure, they should be more than welcome to ask within the general discussion area, but as for a special section devoted to this kind of thing, I don't see the need. JMO.

Re: We need a new forum section for Ebay discussions

I think what's needed is less complaining about eBay and more understanding of how capitalism works. Complaining about eBay is a waste of energy and a separate forum really isn't necessary--in my humble opinion. The "lounge" and "for sale" sections already exist for eBay discussion.

EBay is simply capitalism at its finest! Winners and losers, happiness and sadness, excitement and anger, too much money and not enough money, low prices and high prices, superb timing and poor timing, honesty and dishonesty, success and failure.

People hate eBay (capitalism) because someone else is making money.

People love eBay (capitalism) because they are making money.

I've won and lost on eBay and will continue to do so. Sure, there are crooks on eBay but there are crooks at swap meets, in classified ads, etc., etc. For the 100th time: Buyer beware.

I agree with Joe, this is a web site for general discusion about supercars not about ebay scams. If you feel that you need to post something that you are not sure about or know is a scam this would be the perfect forum for that reason. Mark https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Ebay really has nothing to do with it. The subject really comes down to proving someone actually has a car they claim to have for sale, and if the car is truly what they claim it to be. I see nothing wrong with people asking about a car for sale. With all the fake p-o-p, trim tag and window stickers going around, it helps to have others more knowledgeable look at stuff and help offer an opinion. I applaud anyone that offers assistance in evaluating a car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

I agree, but I don't think a seperate forum for this is necessary.Continue asking in this forum, just put EBAY in the topic title.

I was thinking the same thing Canuck. Maybe after the "cars for sale" and "parts for sale" /ebay could be added. I don't think we need an ebay gripe section but I do think we need somewhere to condense all the ebay stuff; Just to keep the boards neat. JMHO, Marc

Rick,
I normally agree with your opinions, but on this one I believe it wouldn't hurt to put a eBay sales 'n scams forum down below at the bottom of the other forums. What would it hurt?

I think a NEW member -especially a kid who loves musclecars - might benefit from reading archived posts and would know what to look for.

We all take for granted what we "already know" about our favorite makes & models, but I seem to remember a kid who installed THRUSH mufflers on his first GTO and maxed-out the air in his Gabriel Air Shocks - causing passengers to slide forward at every stop sign. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

That kid was clueless. That kid was ME.

The world is a much nastier place now than it was in 1974. Let's ensure that kids breaking into the hobby gain the benefit of EVERYTHING we've learned -- including smart purchases.

If it gets no attention it can always be deleted. Uhhh.... right?
