69 Camaro Tachometer

What is the correct tach for a late March Build L-78 '69 Camaro? 6K Redline and 7K max, or 6K redline and 8K max?

Re: 69 Camaro Tachometer

All 69 L78 and l72 used 6/7 tach for the entire model year. Z/28 switched from 6/7 to 6/8 in early calendar year 69.

Anyone know why Z/28 changed, and solid lifter b/b did not?

Wind a stock L78 to 8 grand and you'll find out!

I hear the pistons try to switch sides about 6500...

Re: 69 Camaro Tachometer

The tach doesn't control RPM; it just reports it. Redline remained unchanged, so why change the tach? Are you suggesting that they changed the tach on the Z because it was OK to overrev it to 8 grand, but they left it at 7 grand for the L78/L72, because it was not OK to overrev it?
