silver bullet

Does anybody remember a street racer named Jimmy Addison of woodward ave I was reading a story where in 67 Chrysler built a test mule car and gave it to Jimmy to use as a street racer
They say it would run in the 10s at 130 mph on the street https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif here is a link to the car

I love these stories and the history of what went out the back doors back then Just like the RA-V
And the 54 olds F88 . There were cars that no one was suppose to know about
The good old 50s and 60s a time were cars were fun

Harold owns the Silver Bullit. He had it at Woodward and another guy had a fake there he was trying to pass off as real.

Dream Car garage did an episode on the story of this particular car, very interesting if you can catch it.

The Silver Bullet is famous. I think it spent time in the Chrysler Museum at one point. I know that it caused such a stir that Jack Roush was approached to build a counter part just to beat The Bullet on Woodward. I know Ford had Roush build a Mustang-2 just to beat the hemi. Don't remember the outcome though. Saw the 460 mustang in person in 1980 when we visited Roushs shop.

Muscle Car Review did a story on this car, with a fold out picture of it. This car was so famous that it's racing career on Woodward Ave is more legendary than factual.
By 1967, all of the cops that patroled Woodward knew all of the cars, and the fines started at $500. There were much safer places to race, especially for $$$. Jimmy did race the car on the street, but not that often. Not worth the risk.

Re: silver bullet

I believe -3- articles appeared in the very early 1970s about the 'Silver Bullet' GTX in Car Craft.I used to read those articles over and over(way cool a veryfast car and Woodward av).Te GTX was originally a dark blue 440 company car that Jimmy Addison built. He had a Sunoco station on Woodward right in the heart of all the action back then. The guy with the 'clone' says it has an engine from the old days from the 'Silver Bullet'. Bid deal..Harold Sullivan today owns the -real- car and Addison makes appearences with it. He is a very nice guy to talk with.

This car was at the Chrysler display at the Barrett Jackson auction last March in Florida. It was probably the coolest car there.
