1969 Corvette seat belts unique to the Corvette ?

Question....any chance a non-Corvette Chevy ( i.e Chevelle, Nova, etc..) pair of seat belts would be correct for a non harness, lap belt only 1969 Corvette convertible ?
Thank you

Re: 1969 Corvette seat belts unique to the Corvette ?

69 corvette seat belts are unique to Corvette only. The inner belt has a plastic sheath or guide, approx. 8" long, and it sticks up from the floor and positions the belt between the seat base and the e brake consol. The outer seat belt is non retractable and most cars usually have a clip on the front of the seat that the belt plugs into when not in use. It wraps around the seat and plugs onto the clip.
If the car had shoulder harness the rear shoulder belt clips onto the lap belt and is removable should the shoulder harness not be in use.
Not sure if Chevelle/Nova belts will work, i do know that some of the corvette vendors like Corvette Central etc., offer a generic cheaper version of the belts.
Snake Oyl also offers the correct belts, but be sitting down when you price them, they are not cheap.

Hope this helps.
