'68 396/375 w/dealer L88 installation value?
A friend wants to sell his 19k mile dk blue/ blue interior, tach, guages, M21, 410 posi '68 El Camino SS. 1 older repaint with excellent original interior (smells new still). He has the original protect-o-plate. I talked to the original owner about 8 years ago when my friend bought the car. The original owner worked at the dealership in Tennesee that sold the car. He had the dealer transplant the L88 into the car under warranty. That explained the 427 fender emblems!
Unique car but the seller has no idea of value. I will pass along his number to anyone who is interested. Email me at: [email protected] Mark |

Man, that's a tough one Mark. He has the POP which confirms the L78 originally, but I assume no formal paperwork confirming the L88 warranty transplant, just the word of the original owner.
To be honest I can't really qualify myself as an expert in placing value on a 68 L78 El Camino. You would need to deduct a certain percentage for lack of original engine, then add a certain amount for the L88 which is definitely worth some bucks. Final assumption - approximately 10-20% lower than a comparible L78 Elky with the original engine and in similar condition. Don't know if this helps or not https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif Good luck with it, sounds like a great ride https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif |
