Those sway bar links are NOT correct for a 70 Nova with F41 suspension, originals have the bottom bolt (where it attaches to the bar) at the bottom, not the side like the Ebay items, originals are also straighter. SULLY

Re: 70 Duece sway bar links?

We have pics of the two types of vertical bars in the deuce book. Both will work, but the shorter ones will sometimes rub the diff cover if air shocks are installed.

The main debate over the years has centered on the finish of the bars. Most cars are restored to match the front bar, ie; the sway bar is natural and the verticals are black. However, on the NOS setup I found several years ago, the colors were the opposite, so I restored mine to match. I have seen plenty of original deuces, and the rear area is either too dirty, rusted, rattle-canned black (or white), or the bar is missing entirely. So, at this time we don't conclusively know the finish on the bars.

Also, the lower spring mounting plates with the special ear for the F41 cars is still available from GM, but it is different than the originals.

Marlin,
Do you know the part numbers for the mounting plates? Earl

#3983073 & #3983074, They are left and right, and can't be swapped - read, I tried and learned https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Also, when installing the small bracket to the mounting plate (also available #3983075; superceded #3913863) along with the bushing (also available #481432) use the correct sized bolts - 5/16" I believe. I tried using 3/8", which will fit in the holes, however the last bolt installed will break when you tighten them. I don't really know why, but after breaking 3 of them, I figured the bolt was torqued into the hole and I was simply pulling the heads off!

Tommy K, you out there? What's the finish look like on your unrestored Wallace Deuce sway bar? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
