Paint color question
Is Pontiac Verdaro green and Fathom green the same color? Its listed that way in the paint book and I need to be sure before buying paint.

Re: Paint color question
No.
Pontiac Verdoro Gold Green metallic is a lighter shade of green then Chevrolet Fathom Green metallic. 1969 Fathom Green is Code #57 & #983 on the Corvette also R-M#A-2102.(Don't confuse this with 1970 Forest Green code #48 R-M#A-2269) 1969 Pontiac Verdoro Green code #47,has more Gold in it and is lighter in comparison. Its very noticeable on the paint charts I have here. ship my Tcover yet? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif |
Re: Paint color question
I thought so..the paint shop swears they are the same, but the sample I got looks more gold..my search continues for the right paint code(Sherwin Williams)

Re: Paint color question
Rick, my Dupont book shows code 73 for 69 verdoro green. Pontiac only. Lotta GTO's, and birds that color. Al get a good paint jobber when you have the paint mixed. Maybe even do some spray out cards to get the color shade you need. Most jobbers will cross match to newer colors that while close, may not be what you want.

Re: Paint color question
Two seperate 1969 Inmont charts show Verdoro as Code #47 as well as code QQ in 1968..https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Holler at the SCW boys (banner above)...either bkhpah or farone could hook you up with your paint info, as I know they've got several FG cars under their belt...and they were spot on as usual... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif Oh, and btw: keep those pictures coming! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: Paint color question
Rick, my Dupont book shows 70 as code 47, 69, as 73, and 68 as Q. All three show different mixing codes, so most times that means that although the name is the same, there is a subtle difference in the color. Not much, but a little.
Al there is a lot of difference in the way the original laquer looked, vrs the base coat clear coat. So to compare to original is kinda an apples to oranges comparison. Rob is right. Brian can probably help you out. We did shoot a 69 bird that color a couple of years ago, and I thought it looked close to right. If you want that mix formula, let me know. |
Re: Paint color question
Someone better have an exact mix code for Forest Green pretty soon..
