Hood Insulation
I don't remember for sure if my '70 Deuce is supposed to have insulation on the underside of the hood or not. I don't think that it should have it but I would like to hear from some folks who know for sure. Does anyone have a good answer on this item?
Many thanks in advance. Alan 1970 Yenko Deuce YS-65 |
Re: Hood Insulation
Alan I like you, bought mine new. It was sold out of Rapids chev in Cedar Rapids Ia.It did not have underhood insulation. I also never say never, as there are some exceptions to the rule ocassionally. Schonye

Schonye https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif,
Thanks for refreshing my memory on this. I didn't think my car had the insulation so I am going to remove the insulation that the guys at the shop had installed there. Alan 1970 Deuce YS-65 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

No original deuces found have had hood insulation.

Re: Hood Insulation
Thanks Marlin,
I thought that I remembered that the hood was just plain underneath, kind of like everything else on our cars except for the power that makes all of them run fast. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif Alan 1970 Deuce YS-65 |
Re: Hood Insulation
I very much understand you quote about the car being a part of your youth, a part of your being. I can relate to that on a personal level. Owning a deuce now is cool, but owning one back then was something special. I bet you won way more races than you lost, and beat a lot of cars with way more cubes.
Mr Howie, I remember what happened 35 years ago just fine. Yesterday though, can be a problem. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: Hood Insulation
I can remember out racing almost every Ford or Mopar that challenged and even a 70 Chevelle with a big block( maybe he didn't know how to drive it. I even beat a guy on a souped up motorcycle from a standing start. Ahhhh, those were the good ole days. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Wow two original Deuce owners conversing about the old days! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

Re: Hood Insulation
Yep. It sure was fun to do those great burnouts with gas that cost 30cents a gallon and the E-70 wide ovals for $20 each. You just had to be sure not to get on it too much if the road was wet because these 4.10 posi's can really get squirrley if you do. I saw a '70 Chevelle get sideways into the grass median when he was trying to race me on a wet section of road. Fortunately, neither he or his car got hurt other than his pride. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif
