Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's

Hi everyone!

On the SCR5 reunion link here, I've seen a Harrell 69
Camaro that is dark green with a white ZL/2 hood ( raised
section )and a strange rear spoiler. Can any members shed
light on exactly what this car is? Is it a COPO, ZL-1, or
a dealer modified iron block 427 conversion? Also, were
there more than one of this type of conversion? Seems I
saw some banter back-and-forth last year about this special
rear spoiler regarding either an ebay auction or direct
sale to possibly a member here. I'd like to know more
about the Dick Harrell conversions. I know of the Funny
cars & ZL-1's, but I didn't know they did 427 conversions.

Any info on this specific car would be appreciated. I
believe Bill Ogle owns ( or did own ) it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
Thanks,
Steve

That car was restored by the Super Car Workshop, who has restored more Harrell cars than anyone else in the world...bkhpah, what's the scoop on Ogle's car?

Also, Steve, there's another gentleman around here that owns a '69 Harrell Camaro, that is similarly equipped as Ogle's...maybe he can jump in and help as well!

The car was a Fathom Green/light green interior COPO 06A build date. The car was a Bill Allen sold car. It is one of a group of three others that we know of. It was a Turbo 400 on the column. It had many interesting items installed by the crew at Harrells shop. This car had the American racing rear wing, one of he more interesting items I have ever seen. Also had a Sun tach on the dash top and special rear spring clips and Harrell badging. It still retained its original drivetrain. One of my favorite cars of all time we have done, and one of the most difficult to restore...BKH

Thanks for jumping in Brian. Can you tell me more about
the other two DH Camaro's? Did they have the same rear
wing, or the std. rear wing? Also, are these three cars
you referenced COPO 427 ( iron block ) conversions? Do any
other DH 427 69 Camaro conversions still exist or are any
unaccounted for?

Lastly, why was this car so difficult to restore?

Thanks again,
Steve

bkh, was there paper or vintage pics of this car to support the wing? Also what wheels was it delivered with? Cragers like most Harrell cars? BTW I remember when you guys unveiled that car at Vette Fest a few years ago and how cool I thought it was! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

I sold one a while back. It was an iron head L-88 conversion. No spoiler, X66 car.

The car had a ton of documents and pictures of the car from new. The wing was installed on two of the three COPO Harrell Camaros we know of at this time. The Green interior was hard to get right. Somebody had changed it all to black. Small items like seat belts, shift lever, kick panels, steering wheel, even coat hooks were hard to find. Correct vintage speed parts are hard as well. Cragars are only one wheel of many that Harrell offered. Joes old DH Chevelle had A/P mags and that is what we used on the DH Camaro, a vintage set, not repos. I have never yet seen a DH Camaro with factory spoilers in 1969. The other two O6A COPO's are alive and well. One Rally Green the other Glacier Blue. Both are autos. Harrell seemed to sell more autos than 4 speeds...BKH

In the fall of 1972 I had the opportunity to buy a Cortez silver DH 69 Camaro. I had no idea what a DH Camaro was. It had that same wing on it, and I disliked it. It, too, was an original TH400 car, and I was looking for a 4 speed car. I took a pass on it https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif

Brian,
Is the Glacier Blue/blue interior car that you know of the same one that is here in the upper Midwest that is currently painted black?
