vinyl dash rapair

I need to have my 70 Chevelle dash recovered. Is there a good service somewhere? I do not want to buy a repop. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Chuck Hanson,(A.C.E.S. Prez)just did a Very informative article on this very subject in the March/April Chevelle World.
Very good quality pix, with text to match.
A sample:
"Dashes Direct has in our opinion, the best repro dash pads currently available.
The other repro pads don't come close to originals fit & finish & function. They're too fat,and the attaching studs don't come close to the original mounting holes. And good luck if you need to dye them. The new vinyl refuses to accept dye because of the oily finish on it caused by out gassing.
Direct Dashes got it right!
Not only do they feature factory style mounting, the right textured grain and the correct contours fit,but they can be ordered in the Original factory colors as well.Contact Dashes Direct for the dealer nearest you."

Re: vinyl dash rapair

Related to this, i have an original mint 69 camaro -green dash pad...with one problem, on the front edge, it caught a burn mark from a drop lite about 1 inch diameter. This is a crying shame, as its the original green pad. I have long thought of ways to fix this, with the poly materials available today and the vinyl repair products, there must be a way to fix this and recreate the grain look. I assume it may have to have a lite coat of dye overall to cover the repair and make it uniform, but would be still the orig pad.

I appreciate any ideas....i have kept it this way not wanting to go to the repo or to the NOS one where u have to dye it anyhow and they all have the bald spot on them.

Any thoughts on who, how or could take the care and time to repair this?? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif

Thanks Rick, I will give Dashes Direct a call. The dash is red and I have never liked the ropop dashes.

Heres another question. This car had a red package tray in the back window. I have only found black ones. Does anyone sell colored pacgage trays?
