260...It's A Gas!

Recently I bought some memorabilia from a man,and I mentioned to him I always wanted a Wayne 511 Sunoco 260 Custom-Blend Gas Pump.He reffered me to a man in Ohio, who in turn sent me to a Man in Oklahoma, who in turn said there was one just found in Illinois.I called upon my good friend Steven J.,and we made a trek and saw what he had sitting in his Barn on his ostrich ranch...I was stunned! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif

These pumps always got molested, and very seldomly retain their original Faces & Guts.
After the 1974 Oil Embargo, many of them were converted to 4 digit readouts, and single grade Low Octane,Unleaded Fuel.
This one, still having it's 3 digit readout, with "Half Gallon" price stated on the face, covering the multi grade selector as well as the Original Site Glass from when it was built in 1963.
In 1971 Sunoco came out with a Low grade Unleaded fuel titled,"SUNLITE".It didn't last long.

After three long weeks, and nearly 4 cans of WD-40,I was able to bring it back to it's Glory, with out Painting or replacing anything.

The 40 year old Veeter-Root Computer, that in time will eventually function,as I hook up an electric motor drive to simulate the gas flow.I can't wait to hear that Bell chime out once the digits accelerate. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

Chrome plating cleaned up well, with Original used scarce Sunoco Fuel Filters still in place underneath cover. As far as I can tell,it was used until 1981,then stored away out of commission at Effingham Il. Sunoco..They took darn good care of it!
