I remember when every car in town had an air cleaner like that...must be getting old. I think they sold for about ten bucks!!

I remember putting one of those on my 69 RS/SS Camaro just after I bought the car new. It may have been cool back then, but today I think they should only be on the various Dealer Conversion cars as that's what a lot of them got. Otherewise I don't care for them now. Wonder if the air flow was any better than the 14" open element type?????

Pretty sure it was a Mr. Gasket part..you have to admire the simplicity. We took everything factory and threw it away for some speed shop parts that looked cool!!

There's another thread awhile back that talks about a few manufacturers of that type air cleaner. I supplied Rick (I think) and JoeG with some photos of my old one and an old ad for one.

Sorry Joe, let me know what home you're moving into, and I'll join you.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif

Yeah, we all threw away the clunky factory stuff in favor of the cheap rinky-dink speed shop sh-t. An original '61 409 aircleaner base just sold on ebay for $464.! Just the BASE!!!!!!!! No one knew........ https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

Yup, I remember putting that air cleaner on and taking a few good runs down the towns main strip, opened the hood and the exhaust manifolds were cherry red..ah, the good old days..I bet there is a fortune in old smog parts in every dump in the country https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
