Royal Bobcat Stickers on my 69 Firbird 350 HO
Hi. My 69 Firebird has the Royal Bobcat Racing Team stickers on the rear quarter windows when I purchased the car. I'm planning full restoration and was planning to remove them when I decided to do a quick web search. You guys sure have a lot of history on Royal Bobcat. Was wondering if Royal offered these performance packages to customers off the street and this car might have some of the mods or did they give out stickers to anyone who walked in the door. Thanks for taking time to read.

Yes anyone could buy the kits and get the stickers.
Would love to see a picture of your car, can you post one? If it still has the original motor I would be extremely interested in a shot of the engine. |

Thanks for your response. Engine is original although it and car need a proper restoration which I am planning to start soon. Can't attach the pics as they are bigger than file limit and difficult to take new ones since car is up on lift right now. Let me know an email address and I'll email em.

That is awesome, I would be interested to know your tranny type, engine code, and head code. I'm some what studying these 350 HO's.
My email is [email protected] , I can post them for you if wanted. But mainly I'm interested in seeing the motor for myself. |
Re: Royal Bobcat Stickers on my 69 Firbird 350 HO
Hello Steve,
The engine code is WN, head code is #48 and tranny is a 4-speed. The former owner was not sure if the transmission is the original or not. I have not pulled it out to inspect so not sure of the code. Maybe you could help decipher some of the numbers which I can see. Transmission says General Motors and then patent number. Above that is stamped what looks like 39250660. On drivers side of car there are several sets of numbers and letters FO FT Out and then a 23-4. There is also a large series of numbers stamped above with 3950306. On same side of transmission is a tag with the numbers 798974. Lots of work ahead of me for restoration as you can see from the pics I sent to your email address. Virtually rust free except about and around wheel wells. Original interior and believe all panels are original as well. Former owner bought car to restore and then found a 69Z28 which he liked better. He said prior owner had started the body work. Car is up on lift right now so not easy to get best pics but I can lower this weekend if you want to see more specific area. I had a Matador Red 4-speed (same color as this car) back in 70 and am hoping to bring this back to near original condition. Any suggestions, comments, etc are appreciated. John |
