Big Block Valve Covers
Can anyone identify these valve covers as far as application, year, etc. They have original Drippers and Chrome and are in great shape. I thought the 70 LS6 had that notch on the drivers side cover. Thanks,

Not positive, but I believe they are early 71's. Later 71 covers went to non-chrome. (orange painted)

Re: Big Block Valve Covers
Would these be for a Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, or Corvette?

Re: Big Block Valve Covers
Hard to see in the photos but the oil fill hole appears to be configured for a rubber plug. A twist-on cap requires notches for the retaining ears. The rubber plug was '71-up.

OK, I will check that.

Re: Big Block Valve Covers
I have little doubt they are 71 covers, what their exact application is i'm not sure of though... My guess is Corvette, but could also be Camaro.

Re: Big Block Valve Covers
The passenger side cover does use a push-in oil fill cap.

Re: Big Block Valve Covers
They came off of something that did not have a power booster. The drivers side would have had the slope in the valve cover to clear the booster. Hope that helped some. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif

Not true.... many cars, including 69 Camaro b/b came with a driver side valve cover without the "booster slant" That's a common misconception that is, at least in part, perpetuated by some of the resto houses. Seems like I read somewhere that the slant vs no slant was for the corvette. On the Camaro, and probably the Chevelle, the wiper motor comes closer to interference with the valve cover, than the booster. copojoe, not picking a fight here, just wanted to help prevent anyone else from purchasing slanted covers in error. Anyone want to buy an almost new set of repop covers with the slant? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif BTW, I have seen several instances of very nice real Yenkos with the slanted covers. Probably installed them before the myth was dispelled. Last time I researched it, the correct ones were not being reproduced. I searched ebay for a year or so, before I found the correct ones. Got several incorrect ones, and some "almost correct" ones (correct for chevelle) before I got the correct ones. Of course then I had them "over-restored" by having them show chrome plated. |

PS I've got a couple like the one in the pic. Not sure about the angled wire loom bracket. Also have a couple with the little "silver dollar" flat in the corner.
