acid washing parts??

Has anyone tried this on e-brake assemblys, seat tracks, etc... and then clear coating them? If so how did it work and what products did you use. I am trying to find the best way to restore all those bare metal parts and get that "manufactured metal" (I guess you could call it) look. Sandblasted parts just dont look right. Any tricks, tips, or advice? Thanks!

Re: acid washing parts??

I've used muriatic acid several times and works like a champ. It removes rust, but still keeps attacking the metal leaving a frosted, beed blasted appearance.

If it is just a surface light rusting you could remove the rust using electrolysis (sp?) and then use oil on the parts or you could use "The Safest Rust Remover" safestrustremover.com I believe is the website...
I have never used the stuff but the before and after are incredible.
