Why No A.I.R. System?

This car has been a CA car its entire life. Why is there no smog on this car? (or is there smog and I am missing something?) Was the difference between a smog motor and non smog motor the carb? My 72 SS Nova which is an L-48/4-spd has a 350/4BBL q-jet and has its original smog system. If a car had a 4BBL carb it got smog, if it had a 2BBL it did not receive a smog system?

I know in 1969 the 350/300 with automatic did not get the smog setup. Only the four speed cars got the smog pump. Maybe it's the same deal with the '72s

See the smog tube crossover hose and the top of the muffler.

I stand corrected, this Nova does has smog... I can see the heat stove with smog attachment.
