On a 1969 Boss 429, how do you identify an S code? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Boss 429 info
As in Mopars the fifth Vin digit is the engine code. . I think 'S' may be a 390 car and 429's a 'Z' but am no Ford guy so confirm w/ someone who is? . Here's a link below to the free Mustang decode site....give it a whirl but I think you need the whole Vin to make it work? .

Re: Boss 429 info
All 1969-70 Boss 429 Mustangs must have a Z as the fifth digit in the VIN.
The KK number is where you will determine if the car is an S engine car. 1969 cars begin with KK1201 and the first 279 cars were S motor vehicles. They are generally considered more valuable than the T motor cars of 1969. |

Re: Boss 429 info
The first 279 engines built were "S" motors. There are cars before KK1479 with their original engines that have "T" motors. If you have any doubt pull the oil pan. "S" engine rods use a 1/2" bolt and a 12 point nut, "T" engine rod use a 3/8 bolt and nut.

Re: Boss 429 info
What is the difference in value between an S verses the T code? Better yet what are these car worth? It's unrestored, original owner, 12000 mile car. Pretty much survivor status.

Re: Boss 429 info
Virgils old car with 54 miles on it is at legendary, it has been for sale at $295. They have sold in that range at auction recently.
The value is in the hard to find parts. Smog, manifolds, air cleaner, S tube, heat shield, fan, dist, carb, pulleys, belts, wires, hoses, exhaust, tires, vent caps, etc. Expect to blow $50 plus on this stuff....if you can find it. Repo restos start at $200. Between color and S motor you can have a $50 swing in price. Check your PM |
