56.5 MPG
In light of our soaring gasoline prices here's an ad from the June, 1960 Motor Trend. Who needs a Prius when you can have a '60 Sprite?

Re: 56.5 MPG
I'll bet he never went over 40 miles per to get that number. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif
I drove my g.f's 89 Corvette from here to Milwaukee on the interstate, never had it past 135 but spent most of the time between 60 and 80. Got a lousy 26.1 for the trip. I did get some strange looks at the toll booths on the way back. I went to a swap meet and the whole passenger area and under the hatch was loaded with treasure, like a pair of heads, set of headers, intake and carb and other misc junk. Who needs an econo box...... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |
Re: 56.5 MPG
I had a couple of 1970 Subaru 360's, their advertised mileage was 66mpg. Man were they slow. With a top speed in the 40's.

Re: 56.5 MPG
Ive always wanted to make a ProStreet Subaru 360..That would be one wild car with a tube chassis and wild sbc..and it still could get in the high 20's for mpg.

Re: 56.5 MPG
Best mileage I ever got was with my 1961 Morris Minor 1000. Maybe 40 mpg+, but in 1973, gas was still only 30 cents a gallon, so I bought 68 Roadrunner instead.
