Odd piece
1 Attachment(s)
I just want to give you guys something to think about during the weekend. Can you guess what type of vehicle this piece was made for initially ? The carb has nothing to do with it, but it fits perfectly.

Re: Odd piece
Too much....for a Tucker Sno Cat? . Nothing to do w/ Preston Tucker that I ever knew, these are industrial tracked snow machines used by equipment operators working in snow conditions....ski hills etc. . Here's a link to a great pic if it works....tread lightly, danger ahead. .

Another clue, a deepsump oilpan. The engine was a 283 and had been rebuilt using a 1967 302 crank, but it was really a lowperformance engine.

Is everyone out driving their cars today or what ?
Here is the last clue for today. This is the waterpump that was used on this vehicle. |
Re: Odd piece

Re: Odd piece
Looks like a marine piece. A buddy of mine had an old cabin cruiser with a 283 chevy engine that had similar heavy duty hardware. It also had a cast iron oil pan that weighed 80 pounds.

Re: Odd piece
APC??
Armoured Personel Carrier?? Had a buddy in the motor pool in Germany that said he was putting all aluminum small blocks in military stuff back in the 60's. He identified a small 4-barrel aluminum intake that looked like it was off a 57 283 but had 1/8" pipe fittings in 4 of the intake passages as being a military pieces. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...-I-Have-It.gif |
