Using a broker

Hello,

A local guy wants me to help him sell his car, because he is not online . I know how to sell cars online successfully, as I have done it with my own vehicles. However I have never sold a car for someone else and been paid for my services.

Could someone explain how a broker works.
What are the brokers responsibilities, and what do they charge?

For example do they screen the prospective buyers and do all of the negotiating for the seller?

Thanks in advance,

Elon

I have done this twice. Both times worked out real well. I charged 10%. Once, one of my law firm clients, asked me to sell an "old chevelle" he had in the garage out back and had not driven in years. I asked him to bring it by that saturday, expecting to see a 307 rustbucket. Imagine my surprise when he pulled up in a SS396 Convert, w/ Build Sheet, black/black/black (orig yellow/black/black).

Cover your bases, be brutilly honest in your description, and take GREAT pictures.

Rich,

He is selling a 69 Z28. I don't have all the details yet. I will talk with him next week when he returns from a business trip.

Rich,

What exactly do you mean by cover your bases?

Are you talking about drawing up a contract...or something
totally different?

Did you have all of the sellers communications go through
you first?

Elon
